From ensuring your home is safe to deciding what type of food you’re going to be feeding them, the more you think about the better. With that in mind, here are 5 things to consider before bringing a dog into your family:

Is Your Home Suitable For A Dog?

The first thing you need to think about is whether or not your home is suitable for a dog. If you have limited space or you feel as though your home is not hygienic enough, you may want to consider waiting until you have moved into a more suitable home. If you have small children, you may also need to consider whether or not bringing a dog into the family is a good idea. How Often Can You Take Them For A Walk And Play With Them?

What Will You Be Feeding Them?

Another important thing to consider is what you’re going to be feeding your dog on a daily basis. They need a healthy and nutritious diet and if you’re not buying them the correct food, it may be damaging to their health. The best thing to do, of course, is to do a little research into the best dog food for your breed.

What Essentials Do You Need To Buy?

It’s also important to think about the other essentials you may need to buy. From dog toys to a comfortable dog bed, there are lots of important things that should be at the top of your list.

Will You Be Paying For Pet Insurance?

Finally, you need to pay for monthly pet insurance for your dog. Although the chances of something bad happening are pretty low, you need to ensure you’re going to be able to give them the treatment they need if it does.

  1. Great points Kim! I absolutely love dogs but get nervous about cleaning up after them sometimes if they have an accident in the house. I would want professional cleaning for sure every now and then, but any suggestions on how to clean them up on my own in between those cleanings?

    1. Mix of 1 cup water and 1/8 tsp dish soap, and blot the mess with a clean cloth. Then, wash out the soap by dabbing it with 1 Tbsp white vinegar mixed with a cup of water. For tile stains, rub the spot with a paste made of baking soda and a little water.
