I love springtime, I truly do. Spring and Fall are two of my most favorite seasons of the year for a number of reasons. There are only two reasons; however, that I do not like spring time. The annual spring cleaning routine and … spring break.
Spring break for our kids this year is the first full week of April – from April 1st through April 5th. So naturally in the back of my mind I’m thinking of things that we can do while they are home on break. I refuse to have them (and me) sit home and stare at the four walls of our apartment again this year. We do that every week, spring break is just that. A BREAK. A change of pace from school, from routines, from everything. A time to really reconnect and do something fun – a mini summer vacation if you will, all crammed into one week.
Back in 2009 I posted a Spring Break Challenge for other moms in the blogosphere who were as “activity planning challenged” as I was at the time. While we didn’t do everything that I thought of on that list – it was a good start and it gave the kids choices as to what they could plan on doing on a particular day.
So I decided to resurrect the Spring Break Challenge this year with some fun ideas that you might like to grab your brood and participate in as well!
Groupon Fun
Have you had a chance to check out Groupon? I absolutely love the deals that I find on there for local restaurants, events, activities, beauty & spa days, fitness, health, home & auto, shopping and education. It is amazing! You really should give Groupon a shot. Check out some of these awesome deals that I’ve found locally that I plan on using for Spring Break.

Other Avenues of Interest
One thing that I really enjoy about living near metro Richmond is the abundance of activities available for all ages (and all price ranges as well) to participate in and enjoy and that just get you out of the house.
A big favorite of mine is exploring the different James River Park System spots throughout the area. You can definitely count on us being in attendance for the annual Earth Day Richmond on April 20 at the 17th Street Farmers Market!
