Medical Cannabis and its Impact on Human Health

From the year 1948 on, the World Health Organization has considered marijuana a dangerous drug from every point of view: physical, mental, and social. However, the debate over its legalization is still happening. Researchers have found that there are many therapeutic qualities that go against the current dangerous stereotype of the drug. Marijuana is a generic term for various strains of the cannabis plant that produces more THC than CBD.

Effects on the organism

The main active chemical in marijuana is tetrahidrocanabinnol, or THC. A concentration of this substance is found in the flowers and leaves of the plant, and less in the stem and roots. The leaves and flowers are used by many. First, they are dried, and then cut finely to make cigarettes.

It is known that THC diminishes brain activity while, at the same time, it stimulates neuron systems that provoke pleasing sensations. It produces a state of dreaming, in which ideas seem to be unconnected and uncontrolled. Time is lost, and special perceptions are sometimes distorted and heightened. It can also heighten appetite.

However, many people describe a tranquil, relaxed feeling, less anxiety, and a slight rise in libido. They also describe happiness, an interior joy that is also related to the user and the environment in which they took the drug.

Many medical reports have stated that the use of THC negatively affects the body in several ways. For example:

  • Hormonal changes that can change sexual development
  • Lowered reflexes that can lower physical development
  • People with emotional or mental health problems may make them worse by using

However, there are also many medical reports – more and more every day, in fact – that state that cannabis is healing and has many benefits for the sick.

Scientific Evidence

There are a lot of studies going on to prove these things and fight against the regular marijuana stereotype. But this is not new. As far back as ancient China marijuana was being used to heal.

Many state that the benefits of CBD Extract Oil and High-Quality Industrial CBD are great, and can even reverse the effects of Alzheimer’s, VIH, and cancerous cells.

In 2005, a study was done to show that those who consumed marijuana were much less prone to anxiety and depression than those that had never tried it. It seems that even in small doses it can help relieve the symptoms of anxiety.

Tourette’s syndrome and epilepsy are also conditions on the list that the FDA authorized studies with marijuana.

Many sources also claim that because cannabis reduces the interior pressure of the eye, it can prevent blindness in glaucoma patients. Studies using inhaled, oral, and IV applications have been done.

And, diabetics are not excluded. In a Harvard study that took place between 2005 and 2010, it was found that marijuana users could metabolize carbohydrates much better than those that didn’t. This helped their insulin levels to stay 15% lower than people who hadn’t used marijuana. And, it helped reduce insulin resistance by 16%.

Using it as an anti-inflammatory help has been effective for people with multiple sclerosis, arthritis, and migraines. The effects are hundreds of times more powerful than aspirin.

You are free to make your own decisions on the benefits of using medical marijuana and/or CBD products made from the hemp plant. As someone who has seen medical marijuana firsthand help a family member, and as someone who suffers from severe rheumatoid arthritis and had to use a walker to move around 2 years ago and can now walk with minimal pain – I am a believer in the benefits of CBD and medical marijuana.

  1. I was always on the fence about marijuana. I never particularly cared for it when I tried it as a teenager. My mind changed because of 2 things the first being in the hospital with my mother when she had leukemia and was undergoing chemo she was sucking on a lollipop and I asked the nurse if I could have one only to be told no because it was actually marijuana and was being used to counteract some of the nasty feelings from the chemo. Mainly stimulating the appetite.
So after that I would read articles about the benefits.
Needless to say the 2nd reason I changed my mind is because I ended with cirrhosis of the liver and liver failure. There are so many things that I can not take at all and then others that I take for pain etc. that damage the liver. Who knew that everything we ingest goes through the liver. Medical marijuana for me is the safest and most effective “drug” to take because it kind of bypasses the liver which in turn will not cause any more significant damage.
So for me I’m all for medical marijuana.

    1. I’m sorry to hear about your mom, @disqus_5wo6Ah8hC1:disqus. I know that had to be hard to go through, as with your own health issues. We have to do what we can to take care of the body that we are given … and if that means using something more ‘natural’ than all of these man-made medications loaded with chemicals – then that should be our right to do so, you know? I’ve long hated the fact that I believe the US government meddles entirely too much in our day-to-day lives. I think they should refrain from telling us how to live our lives and deal more with running the country and repairing our government. But that’s just my two cents.

      1. I so totally agree that the government is up our butts way too much and they really should worry more about our country and leave us alone! Now in my area if you live in any public housing unit you can’t even smoke inside your own apartment. Whatever happened to your home being your castle?

    1. To be honest, I wasn’t at first. I mean … back in the day I did my little thing now and again but it was just a phase I went through. When I became a mom, I swore that my kids would never even know what the stuff was. However, things happen, kids do stuff that they are told not to do, they experiment … and I educated myself on the pros and cons. Now, even though I’m a mom and I still worry about my kids, I would rather have them smoking a joint (legally of course) versus being out there doing street drugs or becoming alcoholics. I know that not everyone will agree with me – and that’s their perogative – but I know with the issues that my kids deal with … I honestly think that it would help them much, much more than it could ever possibly hurt them. The government needs to just go on and legalize it – because people are GOING to do it – no matter what. Might as well free up the court system for cases that matter than having to deal with taking up time and taxpayer money because you got arrested with a joint in your pocket.
