After having a few nice evenings in this week, I’m reflecting on how important my home is to me. Piece by piece, your home grows around you and becomes an external representation of your inner self. Your memories, family, hobbies… everything that is important to you can be translated to a photograph on the wall, a souvenir from a past holiday, a gift from an old friend. After the kids had gone to bed, I found myself on www.chill.ie looking for home insurance. If this place is so important, then it’s not worth taking any risks with anything.
As you can probably tell, I am a homebody at heart, but I do love a good mother/daughter outing to go shopping and have lunch. As well as loving my home and my family, there are a few other reasons that might keep you inside.
Favorite Things To Do at Home
Your home is the best place to get creative with your family. Some of our favorite inside activities recently have included:
- Scavenger Hunt
- Planting a garden
- Make a bird feeder and bird watch
- Send postcards to family members
- Write an autobiography
When you’re feeling a little less energetic, there are always classics like baking, board games, and movie night, which never fail to spark some fun.
BONUS: My friend was telling me recently that her family have been painting along to Bob Ross episodes, which to me sounds like possibly the greatest Sunday morning ever. I adore watching Bob paint. He makes it look so damn easy!!!
Getting Excited about Getting Out
Hubby and I have very different tastes, so sometimes it can be a bit difficult planning date nights with each other. Our solution to this is focusing on spending quality time together on parent/kid outings instead with our three boys (they each get their own special day) and I with my daughter. It makes for more outings and more family-oriented fun and keeps everyone happy.
Then there are the rare instances where the kids are all elsewhere doing their own thing, and we get to do something together, alone, once every 3 years or so. We’re due for another date night this year. There are so many options that could be great, from a comedy carnival to a beautiful dinner. Wonder where we will end up going?
How do you negotiate your time around financial and emotional constraints, and what are your favorite activities to do inside and outside your home? Let us know in the comments below!
I am a major home-body. I love to putter around with different projects. I am not much of an adventurer.
I’m like that too for the most part Terri but sometimes I just want to get out of the house and do something different lol!!
I would choose going out but I don’t drive and my husband has to be gone out of town a lot.
You could always hook up with some girlfriends Valerie who do drive and paint the town red! I hear you though – my mom could drive but she hated going anywhere by herself.
