Our Greatest Fear is by Marianne Williamson from her book, “A Return to Love.” I had some “issues” with TMT (all week if we are being honest here) but Thursday night really tore me up. I wasn’t able to get my two college assignments completed before the kids got home from school so I waited until he got home to keep an eye on them for a little while so I could finish them up. Didn’t happen. He did everything he could to sabotage me into getting them done. To make a long story short, they didn’t get done and I truly felt as though he did it on purpose just to make me miserable. I sent a quick note to my instructors telling them I would have to turn them in Friday morning. Anywho, I know I lost 5 points for each class for turning in the assignment late, but still that was something I did not want to do my first week in school. I talked to my advisor, Mike, and gave him the scoop, and he sent me this lovely poem. Thanks Mike. You made a huge difference in my day after I read this and like I said, you are fast becoming more then an advisor, you are a bonifide buddy. Luv ya man. Thanks!
Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,
but that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.
And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
What is your greatest fear? Mine is that I will never get to the point where I am self-sufficient and able to care for myself and my children without needing a man to help me. Going back to college is going to empower me and give me the tools I need to do just that, and nobody is going to stop me this time.
