Thanksgiving is one of those large, family meals that strikes fear into the hearts of newlywed couples every year. Not only do you have your own family traditions, but now you are incorporating the family traditions of your in-laws as well. Not always an easy task to do!
My nana taught me at a young age that setting a beautiful table is half the battle. If your table is pleasing to the eye, a turkey that is a little on the dry side or a gravy that’s not quite as thick as your great grandmother’s, will usually get overlooked.
Celebrating Thanksgiving is about giving thanks, about being grateful for the blessings our families have received throughout the year. It’s a celebration of family, of perseverance, of being able to withstand all that life throws at us and still make time to come together and celebrate our triumphs and comfort through the storms.
With that in mind, our table setting should be about being thankful. Thankful for a fall season and cooler temperatures. Thankful for family members who have come home after being away for so long. Thankful for friends who have weathered life’s storms with us this year.
Your Thanksgiving Table Decor
I love checking out all the beautiful tablescapes (if that’s not a word I totally just made it one) that you can find online to use for inspiration for your own table settings. I personally prefer a table runner over a full table tablecloth. A table runner is smaller, easily stored after the holiday is over, and easy to clean.
