Cool Off with These Watermelon Drink Recipes

My favorite fruit has been watermelon since I was knee-high to a grasshopper as my Nana used to say. Since today is National Watermelon Day we are sharing some of our favorite recipes for quick, refreshing drinks to make for the entire family!


Angry on the Beach

Angry on the Beach

Ingredients

  • 4 12 oz. bottles Angry Orchard Crisp Apple
  • 4 cups Watermelon Juice
  • 1 cup Vodka
  • 1 cup Cointreau or Orange Liqueur
  • 1 cup Lime Juice
  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice
  • 1 Naval Orange sliced
  • 1 Lime sliced
  • Watermelon chunked

Instructions

  • In a large container – add watermelon juice, vodka, cointreau, lime juice and orange juice
  • Stir in ice, orange slices, lime wheels and watermelon chunks
  • Top off with Angry Orchard Crisp Apple and stir gently to combine
  • Serve and Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. sweet white wine
  • 1 orange peeled
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • 1/2 papaya
  • 1/2 cup watermelon

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to the blender in the order shown
  • Blend well until smooth

Notes

I prefer using Sutter Home’s Muscato for this recipe, its just a personal preference. You can use any sweet white wine that you like. This little gem satisfies your craving for dessert, and you get the added benefits of getting some healthy antioxidants!

  • Crush two to three pieces of diced watermelon in a glass

Instructions

  • Pour into beverage glasses and serve immediately.

Pickled Watermelon Shrub Cocktail

Shrubs, or fruit-and-vinegar syrups, are a great way to add acidity and complexity to balance the sweetness of cocktails and alcohol-free beverages. This refreshing libation features tart pickled watermelon shrub, sweet melon liqueur and fizzy club soda.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups white balsamic vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons McCormick® Mixed Pickling Spice
  • 1 pound watermelon cut into thin wedge-shaped slices
  • 3 cups melon liqueur such as Midori
  • 1 1/2 cups gin
  • 1 1/2 cups seltzer divided
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  • Bring vinegar and pickling spice to boil in small saucepan for 2 minutes. Strain pickling liquid through cheesecloth-lined strainer into liquid measuring cup. Fold up ends of cheesecloth to form a spice pouch; tie tightly with string.
  • Place watermelon slices in large resealable plastic bag or jar large enough to hold all of the slices. Pour melon liqueur, gin, pickled vinegar and spice pouch into bag or jar. Seal tightly. Let stand at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to develop.
  • For each cocktail, pour 1 cup of the pickled melon mixture into tall ice-filled beverage glass. Top each glass with 1/4 cup of the seltzer. Garnish with a pickled watermelon slice. Repeat with remaining ingredients to make 6 cocktails.

  • Whole Watermelon
  • 1.5 oz of tequila
  • 1 lime halved, one half cut in two wedges
  • 0.5 oz on Conintreau
  • 1 oz of Sparkling Ice Strawberry Watermelon

Instructions

  • Add one scoop of watermelon to shaker using melon baller.
  • Add lime wedges and Conintreau. Muddle together.
  • Add tequila, juice from one-half lime, and ice.
  • Shake and strain into measuring cup.
  • Add Cascade Sparkling Ice Strawberry Watermelon and pour into Watermelon Shot Glass.
  • Serve and Enjoy!

Notes

Make Your Watermelon Shot Glass
Scoop out watermelon balls with an ice cream scooper. Cut slice on bottom to make flat. Use melon baller to scoop out insides. Set aside.

  • 3 cups seedless watermelon pieces
  • 3 lemons juiced
  • 1/2 cup vodka
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint
  • 2 cups Sparkling Ice Classic Lemonade

Instructions

  • In a blender, puree the watermelon and lemon juice, strain through a sieve into a drink pitcher.
  • Add mint, vodka, and Sparkling Ice Classic Lemonade then stir.
  • Serve over ice and garnish with fresh mint.
