Amazing what goodies you can find when you Google that particular phrase! I don’t care where I’m at – every town knows how to “do” Christmas up right, and Richmond is no exception! Here are a few upcoming events for you fellow Richmonders to enjoy with loved ones.

Description: Come find out how people celebrated Christmas during the Victorian Era, which included the years of the Civil War. First, a Powerpoint presentation will cover Christmas traditions of the time. Then take a guided tour of the White House of the Confederacy, specially decorated for the Holidays.

Description: Join Chef Tammy Brawley, owner of The Green Kitchen, for an exploration of holiday gingerbread. Indulge in things sweet and gingery and discover tips for using ginger in your holiday concoctions. Nibble on some holiday snacks while you design your own gingerbread house to take home. Each participant gets their own sweet surprise to help decorate for the holidays! Space is limited and registration is required. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Event: 29th Annual Dominion Christmas Parade
Date: Saturday – December 1, 2012
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Where: Parade departs from the Science Museum on West Broad Street and continues east to 7th Street
Price: Free to the Public
Description: For many Richmonders, the parade kicks off the official Christmas season. The parade features a very special Grand Marshal, holiday floats, marching bands, huge helium balloons, and, of course, Santa himself! If you cannot experience the parade in person, you can watch it LIVE on WTVR-CBS6 on the day of the parade or see it again on Christmas Day.

 

Event: The Fan District Association 50th Annual Holiday House Tour
