Our family does not “do” New Year Resolutions for the simple fact that by January 31 they are either forgotten or deemed completely unrealistic and not worth pursuing. It has just been a huge failure for us to make them every year, and not completing a “resolution” just brings everyone down. This year, we are going to avoid that trap by setting a family goal for 2014.
Our goal for 2014? We want to move into a home and out of our apartment. The boys are getting older, and we are getting a bit cramped in our three bedroom apartment. As much as we love our apartment community and our home, the time has come for us to try and find a home that will fit our needs as well as our budget.
A brick rancher (Tre would like a two story home so he could slide down the carpeted steps – precisely why we want a rancher instead!) with 1.5 or 2 baths and 3 bedrooms, a nice-sized kitchen and office space for mom, a den for dad, and a play room for the boys. Naturally a fenced in back yard would be an added bonus for Mollyanna to have her own space to run around and enjoy too!
So each week, we will be checking the local ads, checking Craigslist, and looking for that “dream home” that we can call our own – or at least rent and pretend to call our own!
What are your goals (or resolutions) for 2014?
