This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Funkyflick Company for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
In our family, everyone has their favorite movies. Hubby is into Godzilla, space monsters, and all sorts of sci-fi and action films. Jonathan is into the hilarious spoofs like Scary Movie, horror movies like Scream, and paranormal movies like Paranormal Activity. Tre is on that kid/tween fence with his movie preferences and loves movies like Spiderman and Transformers, the spoofs like Jonathan enjoys, and the occasional horror movie with some comedy interspersed throughout. Me? I’m a romantic comedy gal all the way with some teen flick fun thrown in for good measure – movies like Pillow Talk, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, just to name a few.
What is difficult though, is trying to remember the name of a movie you’ve seen advertised. With this great new service from FunkyFlick.com you can type in what you remember about a movie, such as “Mockingjay” (a new installment from the Hunger Games series due out in November 2014) and it will pull up what you are looking for. Most times we sit here and scroll through Netflix attempting to find a movie that we will all agree upon or we get recommendations from friends or posts that we see on social media.
One of the things that I have discovered as a result of using FunkyFlick.com is the ability to find new movies similar to the ones that I already love. Type in the name of your favorite movie (such as Sixteen Candles, one of my favorites) and you are greeted with a selection of movies such as Weird Science, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Valley Girl, Teen Witch, Better Off Dead, Lucas, Say Anything, License to Drive, The Legend of Billie Jean, St. Elmo’s Fire – see the awesome that is behind this service? I love that it chose literally ALL of my favorites from this time period!
What else is awesome? Well when you click on the title of a movie, you get the following screen:
You simply select “Find Similar” to find additional movies with this theme/genre that you might enjoy. You can watch the official trailer for the movie, check out the original poster, the cast, and the plot. Share it, add it to your list of picks (as you can see, this has been added to mine) or you can post it to Facebook. Last but not least, you have the option to purchase the movie on Amazon.com or via iTunes.
So the next time you are trying to find a movie that the entire family will enjoy, give FunkyFlick.com a try! While you’re there, look me up and check out My Picks!
