If you want to enrich your life a little more during the tail end of the year, there are a lot of ways you can do it. We often move through our days so quickly that we don’t stop to appreciate our life and what we have at our disposal, so today we are going to talk about ways you can feel more involved in the present and how you can enrich every aspect of your life in these months leading up to Christmas.
Take More Photographs
A photograph speaks a thousand words. When we take a photograph, we are capturing a moment in time, a memory, and something which will never happen again during our lifetime. If you never stop to take photos of your family and the people you love in a certain moment, you are wasting all these potential memories and you won’t have anything to look back on later in life. Learn to turn on the camera and snap those precious moments because that is what life is all about.
Socialize
Being a sociable person is a huge part of making the most of your life and you need to form connections with people around you if you want to be happy and fulfilled in your life. Think about meeting up with your friends once a month and your family a couple of times a month and make new memories, get to know each other and stay in the loop. It can be the best thing you do for your life and it will ensure that you always have support if anything ever goes wrong in your life.
Enjoy Nature
Our planet is a miraculous place and we often take it for granted. Life on this Earth was a happy accident and it has shaped the way our lives are today, and sometimes we need to get out of the house and really see what the world is on the outside. Listen to the birdsong, feel the leaves and flowers in your garden and look at all the wildlife which is thriving around you. It makes you feel part of something bigger and it can be a wonderful feeling.
Be More Eco-Friendly
Following on from the last one, once you have taken some time to appreciate nature and life around us, it is always worth you are taking steps to protect the sanctity of life on Earth including your own. Change the way you use energy in the home, switch off the taps and wrap up warm instead of using the heating. Try to recycle everything you can and cut down on use of plastic. All these things will make you feel as if you are achieving something and it can feel wonderful.
Support Charities
Charity is the heart of our world and it is a place where people can support the more vulnerable or less fortunate of us in society or in nature. Make sure to choose a charity which you are incredibly passionate about such as a homeless charity, one which supports educating girls abroad, an animal charity and more. Research and find a cause which you genuinely feel a connection to and this will allow you to feel as if you are making a difference in the world.
Learn Something New
It is always the right time to try new things, and when it comes to bringing some enrichment into your life it is always important to try and learn a new skill or try a new hobby. You can always benefit from the experience and it could be a skill which you can use in other parts of your life such as with your career.
Take Time Out
If you work incredibly hard all the time to support the people you love, you need to also remember that you need support sometimes too. Every so often make sure to take a day or two away from everything and think about absolutely nothing. Be like a teenager again and play on video games all day, just let your body and mind rest and reset after a stressful few months. You will feel so much better after doing nothing that the thought of getting out there into the world will be welcomed.
Travel
Following on from taking time out, a great way to enrich your life and your soul is to go off travelling for a while. Visit somewhere you have never been before and immerse yourself in their culture and their lifestyle for a while. Doing this will make you see that there are different ways of living your life and you could be happier having a different lifestyle to enjoy with your loved ones.
Appreciate Your Relationships
Your relationships with your partner, your family and your friends are the backbone of your life and these are what holds you together even in the toughest times of your life. It is so important to make sure you don’t take them for granted at any time and that you take the time to spend as much with them as possible. Stay in the loop, be closely bonded and it will allow you to face any challenge that comes your way.
Save Money – Enjoy The Little Things
You don’t need to be a millionaire to have a wonderful lifestyle. We are all so focused on money in this day and age that we often struggle to make time for anything else in our lives. The truth of the matter is that you should enjoy the small things in life just as much as the big. A movie night with your partner instead of the cinema, a walk in the countryside instead of shopping in the city… save money for your future by enjoying simple activities now. You’ll be so much happier for it and the bonus will be that you are no longer worrying about the future.
I am so glad I read this post! Thank you for sharing. I am hoping for a calm & relaxing holiday season!
We’re glad you stopped by Antoinette! Thanks for visiting … and best wishes to you and yours for a calm and relaxing holiday season! Remember – just BREATHE lol!
Wonderful tips and a great way to feel better without spending money (even travel can be just a walk in a local park). Thank you!
I’m all for ways to do anything without spending money lol! You are most welcome!
These are fantastic tips, thank you so much for sharing! I definitely need to travel and get out of the city, I miss the country so much!
I grew up in the country Lauryn, so I feel you on that! At the time, as a teenager, I could not WAIT to leave home and the country and go travel to a big or relatively big city to live in. It only took a few years before I was longing for the country life again!
Great ideas to help remain calm and relaxed. the holidays can bring such stress!
That is the truth Barrie! I always end up stressed out about a week before Christmas and just want it over and done with already … might be because I go gung-ho into the season right around the beginning of November though! One of the pitfalls of blogging — always being a few months ahead of everything with planning posts and such …
Love these tips. Please tell me how I can get more photos of both my sons?. because they are teens and it is very hard to get pictures and if I mange to get a few it’s always with that fake smile. lol
I have the exact same problem lol! The best way I’ve found to get a candid shot is to not let them know you are taking a picture of them .. act like you are taking a picture of the sky or something and when they aren’t looking snap one of whatever they are doing lol. Or promise them you won’t post them on social media (mine are fanatical about only posting the photos that THEY want to post on social media lol) and that they are just for your family photo album to look back on when you are old and senile and can’t remember anything. That usually gets them and they can’t say no then lmao!!!! There are VERY FEW instances where you will be able to get them to actually pose for a picture between the ages of 14 and 18 … once they turn 18 though they ease up a bit lol!
I never thought about doing any of these, but they are great tips! I will definitely keep these in mind.
Thanks hon!
Great tips! The holidays are coming up fast and next thing I know, my life is in crazy hectic mode. This year, I’m going to take the time to appreciate life more by taking more pics, getting out on more nature hikes and taking time for yoga and working out!
I try and tell myself that every year as well Shawna but something always happens to throw a kink in the works lol! I’m going to do my absolute best this year though to “take time to smell the evergreens” so to speak and just enjoy the season – hopefully there will be snow, snow and more snow!
It’s true what you say about photos. Some of my most cherished photos are the ones where my family or I are caught doing the mundane. Thanks for posting!
You’re welcome Christina and I agree … the stolen moments of time where we are “caught” just doing the norm and going through life day by day bring about some of the most cherished of memories!
These are all such great tips – I’m actually spending time researching charities this morning as I want to find a new local charity to support. And definitely appreciate the incredible relationships I have with loved ones and plan to travel this hioliday!
