I apologize for missing #MomWisdom Monday last week. This mom was having a moment of her own with her brood last week … and this week … and probably will still be having troubles next week! I know we’re running a wee bit late with this week’s post as well, but there’s a reason for that … I want to introduce you to a new co-host!
Please welcome Julie T. as our newest addition to the #MomWisdom Monday hosts!
What is #MomWisdom Monday?
Let’s be real. We’re raising the next generation. The generation that will one day run this country. Will one day vote for our leaders, may even be our leaders. We’re raising the next teen idol, Hollywood heart-throb, the next Miss America, Babe Ruth, or Steve Jobs. It’s a tough job, and those little ones don’t come with an instruction manual. Trust me, I’ve checked every nook, cranny and orifice of my kids trying to find it. It doesn’t exist.
#MomWisdom Monday is all about sharing what you’ve learned with your own kids (either from the experts or by trial and error) and lifting each other up when we need it most. Parenting takes a village – an army sometimes. It isn’t a matter of parent vs. parent. We’re all in this together, so let’s share the love and raise a future generation that we all can be proud of.

Solo Parenting Discipline Advice

Disciplining without the Support of Your Partner
Kim had an issue with her 16-year-old son earlier this week. Not only did he not check in after being gone all weekend at a friend’s house, he also had not done any of his homeschooling work in five days. She informed him that his XBox and cellphone were to be placed in her bedroom till his work was caught up, to which he replied, “Chill the f*** out, Mom. I’ll get it done.” While still recovering from his surgery and subsequent complications and pain, her husband’s lack of action to support her disciplinary action over the incomplete assignments and language leaves her feeling powerless when it comes to the boys.
What are some suggestions you have to offer to Kim and other parents who may be facing the same issue with being the sole disciplinarian in your household or not having a “united front” when it comes to discipline with your spouse or partner.
