Our Favorite Top 10 Holiday Appetizers

As I’ve stated about a million times, Christmas is my MOST favorite time of the year. I couldn’t let this year pass without sharing our top 10 favorite Christmas appetizers with you!

One of the reasons I love this holiday season so is because I spent my formative years growing up with my nana and my mother baking, shopping, decorating, and even painting our own Christmas decor ceramics. This was the highlight of the holiday season in our home – and I was always given the honor of setting up the ceramic Christmas tree in the big bay window of our living room. I remember when my mother brought it home from the ceramic shop. She painstakingly painted every tip with snow-white paint to make it appear as though the tree had snow on it. It was absolutely beautiful! You can make your own as well, or just buy this beauty below!

But I digress! Getting me all nostalgic here! I had two emails land in my inbox this morning that got me thinking about holiday traditions and baking with my mother and my nana. I cannot wait to share those traditions with Aubree and Amelia. Aubree has no interest in helping to do anything in the kitchen except tear the cabinets apart and bang on pots and pans. Maybe in a year or two!

In my home, I share my love through cooking. I love to put a smile on the face of my family when they come home to a home filled with wonderful aromas. These holiday appetizers are sure to put a smile on your family’s faces as well!

As original Maratimers of the east coast of Canada, one of our traditional appetizers is smoked oysters on crackers and smoked mussles on crackers . some of us add miracle whip to the crackers some of us add hot sauce to it. you can add honey mustard or anything you like for a dip or sauce. they are delicious little bites of seafood heaven. salty smoky and good for you . also we just LOVE LOVE LOVE scallops too soooo good.

    • OMG me too! I absolutely LOVE scallops and smoked oysters and mussels! I haven’t tried Miracle Whip but I have done the hot sauce! Definitely need to try this out with some of Simon’s Secret Sauce and Duke’s Mayo! Thanks for the tips!
