Review: 1byone Bluetooth Body Fat Scale with iOS and Android App

My daughter has been doing Keto since November 30, 2017 and has lost 120 pounds to date. To say that she looks absolutely freaking fantastic is a gross understatement and a disservice to the dedication she has put into transforming herself into the woman she’s always been on the inside to be reflected on the outside as well.

I have struggled with my own weight most of my adult life. After my third child in 2003; however, I pretty much gave up on being anything other than what I was – a slightly overweight woman approaching middle age. I had no major complaints, no aches and pains, I could still run circles around the kids if needed. So I ate what I wanted, maintained a semi-active lifestyle, and tried to do healthy alternatives to different foods that we all enjoyed.

The years have flown by and here we are, 15 years later. My 220 lb. self has blossomed into a 275 lb. woman in her 50s. This is not a good thing.

The Story Behind The Get Healthy Push

Over the past few years, I have had increasing right knee pain, ankles that become inflamed and swollen beyond recognition at times, and back pain occasionally as well. I have a harder time breathing, and sometimes walking across the street leaves me so breathless that I have to stop at the edge of the parking lot to catch my breath before I make it the next few steps to the store. In December 2017 I ended up in the hospital with three blood clots – one in my leg and two in my lungs. My health was shot.

Earlier this year, my daughter was coming two to three times a week and we would work out in the gym together for about an hour after she got off work. Then a new furbaby entered their home, and she needed to stop our gym time and go straight home to take care of the ‘kids’ so I was left on my own. You know what happened, right? I quit working out on my own. She held me accountable, she made me go even when I didn’t want to. So since I didn’t have anyone holding me accountable, I stopped working out at the gym. But get this …

I felt guilty for quitting.

Since she gave me her old Fitbit the beginning of the year so I could track my steps and such each day – I decided to challenge myself – baby steps. There was no way I was going to get the 10,000 recommended steps per day right off the bat when I was lucky to average 1,000 steps a day even with the workouts – so I set a goal of at least 2,000 steps per day with hourly reminders to walk. I have a one track mind when I get on the computer and start typing – hours will go by without me moving before I realize it.

Since the main reason my daughter wanted me to join her in these workout sessions was to help me to get more active and healthier, I decided I wasn’t going to let her down. I decided I was going to become more active, work on getting my health on track, and worry about the weight loss once I mastered becoming more active and working towards healthy changes to my lifestyle.

Starting Small with Little Changes

One of the first things I did to work towards becoming more active was to get a job outside the home. I knew that if I had to get up and get ready for work every day that I would be more active, I would have a reason to get up at a certain time every day to get things done, and I would be more active. There are some days when I walk in the morning before work, and other days I’ll walk in the evenings with Molly or just by myself if I’m feeling up to it after work. I’ve averaged between 8,000 and 11,000 steps every day that I have worked and on my days off I have averaged about 5,000 to 7,000 steps per day.

But while my Fitbit was all and good – I didn’t really KNOW how healthy I really was. My annual physical isn’t for another month, and I wanted to know NOW what I need to work on and plan to improve upon before the end of September.

So I decided I was going to get my health on the right track first and then worry about the weight loss aspect. I’m trying really hard to do things the “right” way this time instead of as I have in previous diet and exercise attempts. Slow and steady wins the race. My usual game plan is to go from 0 to a 1000 right away and when things don’t happen overnight or within a week or two, I give up and cop-out.

Get a Scale to Work with My Fitbit

I’ve had the normal regular scale for many years. It’s probably not calibrated correctly any longer we’ve had it that long. I would get on it, at most, twice a year – just for kicks and grins. From watching my daughter’s amazing transformation, I knew that she had a digital scale that worked with her Fitbit (which is now mine) as well as her Apple Watch. So when the great folks at 1byone reached out to Life in a House about reviewing their Smart Scale, I said yes to test it out and see what all the hype was about and if it’s actually as “smart” as these digital scales claim to be.

About the 1byone Bluetooth Body Fat Scale

The 1byone Bluetooth Body Fat Scale with IOS and Android App is a smart digital bathroom scale and body composition analyzer. This scale is really amazing – and I don’t impress all that easily with electronics because I’m using them all the time. They have to be something special to get me to go “wow, that’s cool” and folks, I went, “wow, that’s cool” with this scale.

1byone stands by their products 100% with a 90-day full refund policy and a 12-month after-sales service policy. Their first priority is ensuring that you have a great purchasing experience, and will happily send you a replacement if any issues arise with any of your products.

Setup was simple!

I hate when you get a new digital device and you have to jump through hoops to get it to work. This was so simple! You download the 1byone Wellness 2.0 App to your smart phone or tablet, connect it to Bluetooth (you don’t even have to pair it!), enter in your name, date of birth, whether you are male or female, and if you want your readings in pounds or kilograms and that’s it. Step on the scale and you will have your stats within seconds!

ITO Conductive Surface

ITO Conductive Electrode provides a metal-less surface and higher sensitivity with Ultra-transparent toughened glass. Step on anywhere.

Why do you need a Body fat Scale?

Health does not just depend on your weight. Whether you want to lose weight or keep Shape and Fitness, weight is not the only factor that needs concern. You should pay more attention to your body fat, water and muscle mass. But this information cannot be provided by a traditional weight scale.

What can you get from 1byone body fat scale?

Comprehensive Health Index gives you: body weight, body fat, body water, muscle mass, BMI (body mass index), BMR (KCAL), bone mass and visceral fat.

How to use it?

First, ensure you have connected your mobile devices to the internet. Searching “1byone Wellness 2.0” on APP store or Google Play or scanning the QR code in the manual to download the APP. Then, ensure the Bluetooth function is enabled (no pairing required), just follow the manual to use the APP to control the scale. It can store up to 10 personal profiles in the APP.

When to use?

We recommend you to use it at the same time every day. Better in the morning after getting up or 2 hours later after meals.

1byone Digital Bluetooth Scale

The scale was packaged extremely well! No wiggle room at all, so you don’t have to worry about that delivery driver who just throws packages around the back of the truck! Your scale should arrive without any issues. If it does, however; 1byone will be happy to replace it for you!

My Actual Screenshots

Below is a carousel of photos that show you the actual screenshots of my results. Feel free to scroll through them and see the results!

I was excited to try it out immediately, so I downloaded the app and jumped right on. I shared the screenshots above of my results with a friend and the first question she had was, “How can a digital scale tell all of that about you?”

Well the 1byone device is based on BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) technology. To measure your body’s bioelectrical impedance, it makes the results much more accurate with new measuring technology. The reason being, the human body fat is not conductive, but muscle and water ARE. The device measures your body’s bioelectrical impedance to calculate the composition of your body.

So there are my appalling statistics. The product of not being active enough, not eating right, and letting my emotions rule my eating at times. So I am going to be working with my daughter to figure out how I can introduce some #keto into my lifestyle since she has done such an absolutely amazing job at transforming her body thru keto and exercise in the past year. I’m hoping that I will be able to do the same type of transformation – or at the very least, drop about 30 or 40 pounds and have more energy and feel better overall with taking that extra weight off my knee and my hips.
