Did you know that you can find free or inexpensive activities for your family to enjoy this summer courtesy of your state and local government?
Virginia has a wonderful website – Virginia is for Lovers – and it lists all types of places to go, stay, things to do, events coming up – it is literally a treasure chest of F-U-N just waiting to be found! Another favorite of mine is Richmond.com – an online resource of the latest news, event calendars, restaurants, and more.
Last but not least – who knows your local city better than the people who live there – right? Check to see if you there is a Facebook group or Google+ community of mom bloggers or parents for your city and state. My favorite local group is RichmondMom.com Junkies. The group is intended to be a collaborative resource for area parents where you can post questions, share your stories, crowdsource, meet other parents, get recommendations on places to go, the best shops, you get the idea! (I also stalk the RichmondMom.com website religiously too – but sssh … don’t tell anyone else that!)
