TAKE ADVANTAGE OF BUDGETING APPS
The first step to ensuring that your family doesn’t end up in serious debt is to budget effectively. This is now easier than ever, thanks to an array of budgeting apps being available in the app store. So there really is no excuse for not budgeting effectively. These apps are simple and quick to use, and will allow you to keep up to date with all of your monthly outgoings. The best apps to use are Spendbook and HomeBudget with Sync, as both of these are easy to use and highly effective. They might cost a small amount of buy, but they’re more than worth the investment.
USE COUPONS & DISCOUNT CODES TO CREATE SAVINGS
Always take advantage of any deals or discounts that are on offer in your local stores or online. There are various discount codes available, so making savings on your spending shouldn’t be difficult. Even if you manage to save a dollar here and there, it’s worth it. After all, when it comes to running a family home, every penny counts. So, make sure to take advantage of any opportunities for saving money. Oh, and don’t forget to use cashback apps when you can, as these can give you money back on what you’ve spent. Always check our Coupon Central page and our Top Deals from Savings.com page for great discounts and coupons you can use immediately.
EARN A LITTLE EXTRA MONEY ONLINE
While staying on track with your finances isn’t about earning more money, if you’re able to top up your monthly income, it’s worth doing. Whether you opt to work as a blogger and earn through your site or by doing surveys on sites like Swagbucks, it doesn’t matter.
What’s important is that if you’re able to boost your income, you take the opportunity to do so. Any chances that you get to up your income are worth taking, so make sure to look into them fully.
BE SMART ABOUT LUXURIES
Obviously, luxuries like family days out and meals out for birthdays, are things that you can only do if you can afford to. If money is tight and you can’t afford luxuries, don’t get upset about it, get creative. Could you maybe get a discount on the price of your tickets to the attraction that you want to visit? Does the restaurant that you want to have dinner at offer any deals? Take the time to check these things and you never know, you might be able to afford your luxuries after all. Just make sure to remember, bills come first, and luxuries come second.
Family life can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to break the bank. It’s just a case of knowing how to budget effectively and how to be smart about your spending.
Great ideas. Budgeting is one of those things that I need to work on. There is just way too much that I want to splurge on for the baby!
Oh @Gessellandlee:disqus – I remember those days all too well lmbo!!! When my first was born I wanted to buy everything under the sun for her nursery! Her grandmother made her the most adorable matching nursery items – crib sheet, curtains, diaper bag, bumper pads, comforter, pillow – the works!!! It was so adorable! I think I bought toys on a weekly basis for months lol!
Great post, ok definitely taking a look at the budget apps, so that I can “budget like crazy”. 🙂
